The Chillfest Second Sunday Series runs monthly from October through June 2010 and offers gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender-themed films to Jersey City and the region.
FAT GIRLS is the candidly funny comedy focusing on the trials and tribulations of Rodney Miller, a gay, theater-obsessed high school senior who has his heart set on Broadway stardom and an eye out for love. With the help of his best friend (and fellow outcast) Sabrina, Rodney takes us on a winning journey of self-discovery. With an abundance of underdog spirit and crowd pleasing humor FAT GIRLS explores the sometimes heartrending challenges of growing up in small town America. Produced, written, and directed by ASH CHRISTIAN.

Jersey City Dodgeball Scrimmage

Learning Community Charter School Gym (2495 Kennedy Boulevard): Saturday February 27th Noon to 8 pm |
Dodgeball
Just like smoking and drinking, this once harmless recreational past time has been banned in most school systems for promoting anti-social behavior in our nations youth. And although no legislation has been drafted to make dodgeball illegal or enforce a mandatory minimum age from playing, the Surgeon General is considering labeling all dodgeballs with the warning similar to cigarettes. How does " Dodgeball causes cancer" sound ?
As mature adults, though, the state allows us to engage in risky behavior.
And so I bring you : The Jersey City Dodgeball Death Match , a benefit for the Learning Community Charter School. Really it's just a scrimmage, and I'll have you sign a "I don't have a heart condition" waiver.

Billy John Moore's work is captivating and one of a kind. His talents to capture places and things that are largely unseen is what sets his work aside from others. His photographs are mysterious and propel us into a dreamlike state. As a born and raised Jersey City native it is no surprise that the majority of his work reflects the very city he is from.

Sing Your Heart Out Valentine Karaoke Party at the Love Post

Lamp Post (382 2nd St):Thursday Feb 11th 9:30pm
Dear Hopeless Romantics,
I know you wanted to me to buy you a reasonably priced diamond ring from Kay Jewelers for Valentine's Day. But with the economy in more trouble than Tiger Woods and Senator John Edwards, lets just reaffirm our love through song. Yes our relationship has been through the gamut of emotions from Lust, Love, and Honey I want to Kill You. But I cherish the thought of seeing you on stage at the Love Post confessing your desires to me in a Public Display of Affection that rivals the 5 minutes of saliva swapping we used to do in between periods in High School.
On Thursday the 11th, Dancing Tony is hosting a "Sing Your Heart out Valentine Karaoke Party". He's got roses and chocolates for the ladies, and drink specials for the guys (who are used to getting nothing but grief anyway).Plus, he's got a over 400 songs with a full range of emotional selections to choose from too. So whether you want to tell me "Love me Love me " like Dean Martin, or need to pull a song from the Magnetic Fields 69 Love Songs Arsenal ? or just sing me a " Silly Love Song" tonight's our night.
xoxoxo

jazz, Rum Runners, Made with Love
Jan 29, 8 - 10 pm, Made with Love Organic bakery and cafe,
530 Jersey Ave byob
Swinging instrumental jazz in the Nat King Cole tradition.
With Billy Test on Piano, Adam Lomeo on Guitar, and
Sam Trapchack on Bass, the group has an
all acoustic “strings” sound which is rarely
heard in modern jazz. The Rum Runners
came together while the members were
studying with Mulgrew Miller at William
Paterson University. While the group sets
out to achieve that carefree feeling of
old-school swing, the members are all
thoroughly modern NYC jazz players. This
band is not an imitation of a bygone era,
but three exciting musicians in their early
twenties carrying on a dialogue with an era
when Jazz was America’s most popular
music. With this in mind, the Rum Runners
devote a slice of their repertoire to popular
songs which almost any modern listener
will be familiar with.
