Welcome to the 7th season of Chillfest Jersey City!
We will be showing the film CIRCUMSTANCE, a story about underground lesbian life in Iran told through the intense and passionate friendship between two women.
"Revolutions large and small make themselves felt throughout 'Circumstance,' Maryam Keshavarz's sensuously subversive directorial debut about forbidden love in contemporary Tehran."
- The Washington Post
"Although the broad theme is universal - a tale of star-crossed love - it's the particulars of the setting and the citizenry that resonate here. Shireen (Sarah Kazemy) and Atafeh (Nikohl Boosheri) are 16-year-old schoolgirls who share a passion for music and for dancing and, it's soon revealed, for each other."
- The Globe and Mail
