"The Millionairess", Actors Shakespeare Company Lab Project

THE ACTORS SHAKESPEARE COMPANY AT NEW JERSEY CITY UNIVERSITY CONTINUES ITS SEASON WITH  THE MILLIONAIRESS, A PLAY BY GEORGE BERNARD SHAW

Performances are scheduled at two venues in close proximity to each other and occur on the same weekend

JERSEY CITY, NJ (May 11, 2011) – Actors Shakespeare Company at New Jersey City University, a professional theatre company in residence at the University, will continue its Lab Project series for Season 2010-2011 with a presentation of George Bernard Shaw’s “The Millionairess,” Friday, May 13 through Sunday, May 15.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in NJCU’s West Side Theatre, 285 West Side Avenue in Jersey City.  There will be also be a performance at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at Congregation B’nai Jacob, 176 West Side Avenue in Jersey City.  Admission is free and open to the community.
     ASC at NJCU Lab Projects enable artists to explore new material, take a fresh look at Shakespeare’s canon, hone new skills, and test new forms.  A question-and-answer session is held with the actors following each performance.
The final months of ASC at NJCU’s 2010-2011 season will include two more Lab Projects: Israel Zang’s “The Melting Pot,” June 5; and Tom Stoppard’s “Arcadia,” June 22-26.

NJCU’s West Side Theatre is conveniently located near Culver Avenue (on the NJCU campus), just minutes from Routes 440 and 1-9, exit 15E of the N.J. Turnpike, and exit 14B of the N.J. Turnpike extension I-78.  There is ample parking in the University’s parking lot on West Side and Audubon Avenues.  However,  from May 10 to May 22, the West Side Avenue parking lots will be closed and shuttle service will be suspended.  Free parking will be available in the parking garage in the Michael B. Gilligan Student Union on Culver Avenue during that period.
