JCAS presents “Antonia’s Line” (1995)
“Antonia’s Line” is the story of the strong-willed and compassionate Dutch matriarch Antonia’s post-war return to her home village and the effect she and her descendents have in reshaping the town. Mythological in its scope, “Antonia’s Line” spans nearly 40 years and three generations, explores a myriad of philosophical themes, and has been received as an “earthy, sexy, joyous celebration of life.”
This Mother’s Day come see why director Marleen Gorris’s self-described “feminist fairytale” won the 1995 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the Toronto International Film Festival People's Choice award, and the Nederlands Film Festival Golden Calf award.
