JC Library Amnesty week

AMNESTY WEEK EXTENDED UNTIL MAIN LIBRARY RE-OPENS

JERSEY CITY, N.J.   November 15, 2012 – While in recovery from Hurricane Sandy, the Jersey City Free Public Library acknowledges that its loyal patrons are in recovery too.
Therefore, fine amnesty will be extended the full duration of the Main Library’s closing.
All fines, library materials (books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and damaged books are now forgiven during this time period of Main Library emergency closure. Library Administration requests that all library materials be returned, and they will be credited to the borrower without any fines.
Amnesty Week had been designated for this week only (Saturday, November 10 – Saturday, November 17) prior to the devastation experienced at the Main Library from Hurricane Sandy.
The Main Library, 472 Jersey Avenue in Jersey City, has been closed as of 12 noon, Friday, November 9, 2012, due to residual flooding damage in its basement from the
storm. Library Director Priscilla Gardner has been focused on securing the necessary FEMA funding and contractors for work on the $1.4 million remedial project, as per the report by the Library’s architect, Helena Ruman Associates.
For the latest on programs, events, and special announcements please follow the Library on Facebook or Twitter at Jersey City Free Public Library.
