writer's seminar week 4: sound and sensibility
At the heart of much great writing is the balance between “sound and sense,” Alexander Pope told us—and in this session we will see how good prosody (meter and rhymes in a proscribed order) will, like the lyrics of a song, elevate the sentiments you want to convey. This discussion will focus primarily on poetry; poets discussed will include W.H. Auden, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and John Donne. Participants are also encouraged to ...bring in and share poems they have written.

The JCAS Writers’ Seminar meets every Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 PM to discuss authors and their craft, with a view toward how to implement effective literary techniques in your own writing.
