ANNOUNCES: A Screening of The Virgin Spring
It’s classic night as Sunday Night Film Forums @ JCAS explores a masterpiece of violence, revenge, and redemption with Ingmar Bergman’s 1960 Best Foreign Film Oscar winner, The Virgin Spring.
Set in medieval Sweden, The Virgin Spring is the disturbing tale of a feudal landowner’s daughter brutally raped and murdered on the road to church. What form will fate take when the traveling killers unknowingly seek food and shelter in their victim’s home? Shocking for its day, The Virgin Spring was banned in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1962, and served as the inspiration for Wes Craven’s 1972 directorial debut The Last House on the Left.
Come experience a controversial classic.
