Starting at the age of 6 in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan (Founder Hwang Kee) and additionally studied in Jeet Kune Do, Aikido, Karate Do and Kyokushin. A frequent competition participant with multiple awards in Hyung, Traditional Hyung and Free Sparring. Instructor Ahlers continues to train and teach his first love Tang Soo Do with his unlimited passion and enthusiasm.

Annual Diversity Stride Silent Auction, NJCU

Our fifth Annual Diversity Stride Silent Auction promises to be one of best ever, with several well renowned artists, some of which have won prestigious grants/awards including Fulbright fellowships and whose work has been exhibited worldwide and is currently collected by museums and independent collectors. We also have the work of up and coming artists who have exhibited widely in the metropolitan area and who are already carvi...ng out a niche for themselves. This is your opportunity to own an art work for a fraction of the price you would pay at a gallery and at the same time help us raise funds for a worthy cause. Please mark your calendars for the opening day, which will be held on Tuesday April 19th from 4:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at the GSUB gallery. The reception will take place in GSUB 129 where you can have some light refreshments and talk to the artists. Attached is the invitation card with the current list of artists who are donating work for this worthy cause.
The work will hang in the GSUB gallery from Monday April 18th through Monday April 25th and you may bid on the art work during gallery hours (12 Noon – 2p.m.) or by appointment (please call Sergio at Ext. 2170) The bidding will close on Monday April 25th at 2:00p.m. sharp! Additionally we have partnered with Applebee’s of Jersey City to help us raise additional funds for the Diversity Stride, so if you are thinking of eating out or ordering take out please print out the attached flyer and present it to your server on April 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st from 11:00a.m. – 10:00p.m. at the Applebee’s of Jersey City (701 Route 440 – In front of the Hudson Mall). Hello Again!  -- We're counting down the days to this year's Expo.  Once again, our goal for this FREE event is to bring together potential volunteers with the local non-profit agencies who need volunteer support more than ever!

This Expo will be held in the magnificent lobby of the Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre, at Journal Square in the heart of Jersey City/Hudson County, across from the bus and PATH station.   Whether you want to explore volunteer opportunities, or you represent an organization that needs volunteers, we really hope you participate!

Hamilton Park Dog Runs Group:

We have a Hamilton Park Dog Runs Group.  This group is formed to give a voice to all dog owners who use Hamilton Park.  We will discuss issues, maintenance procedures, and have a contact liaison who will report concerns to the HPNA and DPW.
On April 6, 2011, both the large and small dog runs were tilled, aerated, and zeolite was mixed in (volcanic rock used in cat liter) for odor. The dog runs will be on the same DPW maintenance schedule as Van Vorst Park.
The dog runs have rakes, shovels, and large garbage cans inside the runs supplied by the HPNA.  It will take the cooperation of all to keep our park clean and safe.

Hamilton Park Clean Up Group:

We have a Hamilton Park Volunteer Clean Up Group who cleans up the park litter and rubbish throughout the entire park, empties the overflowing garbage cans, and takes all the bags to the curb for pick up.
These volunteers are the reason why our park looks so clean and beautiful and litter free!  They have a three person crew per shift, and it takes them about a half hour to do the park. They are supplied the garbage bags by the city.  If you would like to join this group, please email:

Hamilton Park Greens Group:

We have a Hamilton Park Volunteer Greens Group who work in the mulched beds in the park dead heading the flowers, pulling out weeds, trimming the bushes, pruning the trees, maintain the cleanliness of our beautiful large water fountain at the entrance to the park at 8th & Jersey, and anything else that is needed.  They are supplied the garbage bags and gardening tools by the city.  If you would like to join this group, please email:
