JC Slam, poetry slam Jc Fridays

Get ready for another season of amazing poetry, eclectic hosting, and fantastic features! This year JEREY CITY SLAM is starting the slam season right, on a JC FRIDAY! As if that was not enough, we are proud to have CAROLINE ROTHSTEIN as the feature for our season opener!

It has been a long summer for some, so here is a review on the slam rules:
* Maximum 8 poets to a slam
* The time limit for your poem is 3:10. After that t...he point deductions begin!
* There will be two rounds cumulating in a final round where the top two poets will face off.

As it is a new season, we encourage all poets to come out swinging with new material!

Because this is such a special event-- Slam Season beginning, amazing feature, JC FRIDAY-- This week's slam will be held at the amazing 143 Columbus location! Come for the poetry and stick around... you never know what is going to happen on a JC FRIDAY!

Music Feature - Stephie Coplan

Stirring a geeky cocktail of two parts Ben Folds, one part Regina Spektor, and a dash of Jerry Lee Lewis, Stephie Coplan is simply not your average songwriter. With a wink and a smirk, the New York City transplant blends quirky, clever lyrics with thunderous jazz piano, earning her frequent comparisons to Fountains of Wayne, Ingrid Michaelson, Kate Nash, and Amanda Palmer.

Check out more from her, including some awesome videos at:
