Stand And Deliver- a dramatic live presentation

A dramatic live presentation "Stand and Deliver" will be staged by students of the
High School for the Performing Arts of Jersey City.

The play is the story of Jaime Escalante, the dedicated and driven teacher who, in the early 1980s, refused to let his East LA students be written off, and inspired their remarkable (and seemingly improbable) success in excelling in advanced calculus achievement tests -- and on to successful careers and lives. Mr. Escalante died earlier this year after a struggle with cancer, and this is a benefit performance, with proceeds going to his family.

Jersey City Arts High School presents the play:
Stand and Deliver
the play tells the real life story of Jaime Escalante, the inspirational math teacher who turned inner city kids in LA into top-achieving math students.
Today, Mr. Escalante is dying of cancer, his insurance has run out. His former students are trying to stand and deliver for him, raising money for his care.
the Foundation for Advancement in Science & Education, a California non profit corp, has established a trust account for all contributions for the 'Friends of Jaime' Fundraising campaign.
